Hey you!

We’re calling on visual artists, essayists, poets, community scholars, political cartoonists, and creatives of all kinds to share work that reflects the radical freedom-seeking traditions of Black, Indigenous, and oppressed communities in the Lowcountry.

This is liberatory media by us, for us—grounded in the culture, struggles, and victories of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Let’s come together to create a powerful testament to our resilience and collective vision for freedom.

Submissions Due
March 16, 2025

What We're Looking For

We’re accepting submissions across multiple formats, including:

  • Visual Art: Drawings, photographs, political cartoons, and interactive designs like revolutionary crossword puzzles or matching games.

  • Literary Work: Essays, poetry, brief memoirs, rap, or vignettes.

Eligible submissions must align with the culture and freedom-seeking tradition of Black, Indigenous, and oppressed communities in the Lowcountry. Your work should use art and culture as a vehicle and evoke freedom as the destination, while exploring themes of collectivity, self-determination, revolutionary organizing, justice, and love.

Submissions should be suitable for print, as selected pieces will be featured in Liberate the Lowcountry.
